HydRegen Strengthens Process Development Capability with Appointment of Pierre Moreau

HydRegen is pleased to welcome Pierre Moreau to the team as Process Engineer, Chemistry, strengthening the company’s process development and scale-up capabilities as it advances its biocatalytic technologies towards commercial manufacturing.

Pierre Moreau brings more than 20 years of industrial experience spanning catalysis, process development and scale-up. His career has included working with processes from gram to multi-tonne scale, managing catalyst testing across pilot plants and high-throughput systems, and supporting technology transfer of processes through to manufacturing.

In his new role, Pierre will work across HydRegen’s chemistry and engineering teams to help de-risk the company’s lead processes and advance them towards its manufacturing goals. His work will support the translation of strong laboratory results into robust and commercially relevant processes.

A key advantage of HydRegen’s technology is its ability to operate within customers’ existing hydrogenation infrastructure, helping to lower the barriers to adoption and reduce the need for significant changes to manufacturing facilities. Pierre’s experience in metal hydrogenation and other metal-catalysed processes brings more of this industrial capability in-house, strengthening our understanding of the processes our technology will complement or replace. This will help us design practical routes to implementation and support customers in adopting biocatalysis within established manufacturing environments.

“Pierre brings a depth of industrial process and scale-up experience that will be extremely valuable as we move our lead programmes towards manufacturing. He understands what it takes to translate promising chemistry from the laboratory into a robust process at scale. His appointment strengthens the connection between our chemistry and engineering capabilities and will help us make faster, better-informed decisions as we progress towards commercial deployment.”

Holly Reeve, CEO and Co-founder, HydRegen

Commenting on his appointment, Pierre Moreau said:

“I’m excited to join HydRegen and contribute to the scale-up of its biocatalytic technologies. The opportunity to combine chemistry, catalysis and process engineering to solve real manufacturing challenges was particularly appealing. I’m looking forward to working across the team to develop robust, scalable processes and help translate HydRegen’s technology into industrial applications.”

Pierre Moreau, Process Engineer, Chemistry, HydRegen

The appointment comes as HydRegen continues to build the multidisciplinary capabilities needed to translate its technology from laboratory development into manufacturing. By bringing together biology, fermentation, chemistry, analytics and engineering, the company is developing a detailed understanding of both catalyst production and application at scale.

Pierre Moreau’s appointment adds extensive industrial experience to this multidisciplinary team, strengthening HydRegen’s ability to assess process performance across different scales and anticipate the practical requirements of commercial manufacture.

We are delighted to welcome Pierre Moreau to HydRegen and look forward to the contribution he will make to the company’s next stage of growth.
